Our History

Always connected with our roots.

Espinaler was born in 1896, when Miquel Riera y Prat moved from his farmhouse, near ‘Espinal’ bridge in Argentona, to settle in Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona). He opened Tavern Espinaler in the town by the seaside, where wine and drinks were offered. The Tavern had the typical Mediterranean atmosphere: small and cozy with a rustic and warm ambience. To this day, after five generations, this ambience continues to thrive at Tavern Espinaler.

In 1907, thanks to the hard work of Miquel Riera y Prat, Espinaler earned a license to sell tobacco, which gave a significant boost to the family business.
